Due to the economic impossibility of executing the works of railway line to link Manacor and Arta, the Balearic Executive chose to shelve the initial proposal and replaced it by a greenway project drawing on the unfinished works of the train.
This new route would revalue environmentally Llevant area with a path of 4 meters wide and 29 kilometers long, which will connect the municipalities of Manacor, Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, Son Servera and Artá.
About 4,800 trees and 15,200 shrubs were planted along the corridor. It was estimated at 24,000 square meters wooded area surface recovered. Six autochthonous plant communities were created and different points of water for biodiversity conservation have been adequate. They have been installed environmental interpretation centers and various information panels on vegetation and fauna of the area.
The project has required an investment of 4.28 million euros. Due the economic scale of investment, 15 intelligent video surveillance cameras were needed to prevent possible vandalism and ensure the safety of people and property. At this point it is where Proxima Systems comes in, as it was a necessary condition that the cameras had to be integrated into the corridor in a natural way, so the perfect solution was Occhio Solar which not requires electrical installations that break the harmony of the landscape.
The 15 cameras are powered by a solar panel that guarantees the operation of the camera all day and in addition charges a battery that allows the camera to keep running overnight or “total” absence of sun. The transmission of images has been done through Ethernet connection for connection to local / WiFi network subscriber and sends a video by email in case of intrusion or destruction of the camera.
