iControl Remote is an easily installed remote control system for irrigation management. With IControl Remote you can remotely manage your pivots from any computer, tablet or cell phone using a web browser. The system is installed inside a box in the pivot’s last tower and includes a GPS receiver and a SIM card to ensure communication between the system and the remote management application. The incorporated pressure sensor continuously measures the water pressure at the end of the pivot and, this information, together with IProx Irrigation, is used to optimize the pumping pressure and reduce the energy cost.

In this way, you can configure various irrigation schedules and, at the same time, see and manage the status, pressure, speed and real position of your irrigation system in real time.

No more ineffiecient linear irrigation programs, with variable rate irrigation, you will have the ability to apply different amounts of water in different sectors, thanks to the GPS receiver locating the pivot’s position.

Moreover, iControl Remote, which works like a pivot irrigation app, will send you notifications and alerts in real time, including simple data tables or graphs to help you analyze the current operation and implement the next irrigation cycle intuitively.

Finally, iControl Remote also enables you to perform fertigation with your pivots, since you can add nutrients to the irrigation water, giving you more control over your crops and reducing both water and fertilizer consumption, as well as improving the crop’s productive capacity and the profitability of your holding.

The installation of iControl Remote in a pivot, no matter how basic its electromechanical panel, gives you a full remote irrigation control system, and adds advanced features such as variable speed by sector, start/stop by calendar, virtual barriers, wireless control of the pump and/or generator, electrical hose wire cut detection, etc. (See product sheet)

iControl Remote allows water use to be optimized and both costs and time to be saved. The “Pump water pressure control” function allows the pressure provided by the pumping station to be regulated depending on the pressure requirements of each pivot at each moment. Only iControl Remote allows you to save up to 30% of energy costs (depending on the terrain of the plots and the distribution network)
A relay incorporated in the device makes it possible to control the pump or to turn on the generator, from the pivot itself using iControl Remote.

To avoid copper theft, if the pivot hose is cut, iControl Remote sends a cable theft alert by SMS/email. Thanks to a small solar kit (optional) which keeps iControl Remote turned on and activated, this is even possible in the winter with the pivot disconnected from the electricity supply.

The system can manage all the crops from any device with an internet connection.

An iControl Remote device installed in each pivot allows them all to be remotely managed in the same way, using the same application. The “field view” allows you to check the status of all the machines at a glance and to access the details of each of them with one simple click.

ACCESORIES

  • Last tower box with iControl installed and pre-wired for the various brands of pivots.

  • Solar kit for cable interruptions when the pivot is disconnected from the electricity supply.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Detects on/off status of pivot at all times and displays the information in the web APP
  • Allows remote manual start/stop of the pivot from the web APP for personalized crop management.
  • Start/stop by calendar: automatically start/stop the pivot according to the calendar configured by the user in the web APP
  • Pressure start-up: the pivot is turned on when the water pressure exceeds the minimum configured pressure, including a pressure waiting time which is also configurable.
  • Start-up by electrical supply: the pivot turns on when it receives electricity
  • Detects the direction (forward/ reverse) in which the pivot is moving and displays it on the web APP
  • Allows the direction of the pivot to be changed between Forward/Reverse from the web APP (* only compatible with panels that have auto-reverse)
  • Allows the selection of the pivot's speed control mode between:
    • “panel”: moves at the speed selected on the panel in the centre of the pivot
    • “iControl Remote”: moves at the speed selected on the web APP
    • “by sectors”: different irrigation sectors and speed for each sector in each movement direction are configurable from the web APP
  • Control of the “End Gun” can be selected between:
    •  “panel”: opens and closes according to the configuration set on the pivot's panel
    •  “auto”: opens/closes according to the configuration for each of the defined sectors
    •  “ON” : active
  • Stops at virtual barriers configured as auto-stop: for the pivot at an AR/AS angle configured in Auto Stop mode and performs over-irrigation according to the waiting time which is also configurable.
  • Changes of direction in virtual barriers configured as auto-reverse: changes the direction of the pivot by an AR/AS angle configured in Auto Reverse mode and performs over-irrigation according to the waiting time which is also configurable.
  • Stops at physical barriers configured as auto-stop : detects pivot stops caused by a physical barrier, visualises the stop, performs over-irrigation according to the waiting time which is also configurable and, finally, changes the direction of the pivot.
  • Change of direction of the physical barriers configured as auto-reverse: detects changes of direction and performs over-irrigation according to the waiting time which is also configurable.
  • Stop in Slot : for the pivot in those angles configured as Stop In Slot.
  • Selective water application by sectors and movement directions: definition of which sectors and Forward/Reverse movement directions are irrigated (and at which speed) and which are not.
  • Continuously verifies the integrity of the pivot hose and, in case of a malfunction, generates an alert for cable interruption. * Requires the pivot to be turned on or optional solar kit
  • Automatic start/stop of generator/pumping station/valve according to the irrigation programmed by calendar (*requires a control cable between the pivot and the generator/pumping station/valve or Iprox Compact device in the pumping station/valve)
  • Manual start/stop of the generator/pumping station from the web APP. This allows remote management of the water supply to other irrigation sectors when the pivot is not working (*requires a control cable between the pivot and the generator/pumping station/valve or Iprox Compact device in the pumping station/valve)
  • Continuous measurement of the water pressure at the end of the pivot
  • Meters measuring the operation hours and volume of water applied
  • Records and displays a list of the manoeuvres performed both manually and automatically
  • Graphs with more than 20 variables related to the operation of the pivot
  • Sending of alerts by SMS/email configurable by priority
  • Various access levels and authorisations in order to visualise and/or operate the pivots according to the user
  • Global SIM card (compatible with all telephone operators) included in the controller
  • Remote update of the controller's firmware
  • Simplified general view of all the pivots in one exploitation ("field view")
  • Graphically represents on a map the status and position of each pivot, physical and virtual barriers, end-gun activation areas, active alarms, etc.
  • In the case of a GPS reception error:
    •  Sends an alert
    •  Deactivates the Stop in Slots and AR/AS by angle
    •  Passes the speed control and End-Gun control to the panel
  • If there is an error in the GSM communications:
    •  If the pivot is operating, the web APP sends an alert
    •  The pivot continues operating (or not) as expected in the first 24 hours
    •  After 24 hours without GSM coverage manual mode (panel) is activated
  • Next stop: estimates the time remaining for the current irrigation
  • Monitors the electric supply to the pivot and sends an alert in the case of malfunction.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR USE

  • GPRS/3G Mobile phone coverage on the land where it is installed.

FAQ’S

Q: Which brands of pivots are compatible with iControl Remote?
In general, all of them. The most well-known include: Valley ®, Western ®, Pierce ®, Lindsay ®, Reinke ®, Rainfine ®, RKD ®, Urapivot  ® .

Q: Is a specific electric panel required for remotely monitor and control of my pivots?
The installation is easiest for pivots with basic electromechanical panels, which are also the most cost-effective. Nonetheless, panels that have a computer/PLC are also compatible.

Q: Do we need mobile phone coverage from any specific operator?
iControl Remote incorporates a universal SIM that connects to the operator with the best GPRS/3G signal available at each moment.

Q: How are alerts received?
An alert can be sent by SMS or email for each alert event.

Q: Can the pumping control be included on the same screen as that used to control the pivot?
Of course. If the pump is wired to the iControl pivot, it already includes the pump start/stop option at the beginning and end of the irrigation. If there is no control cable between the pivot and the pump, the installation of a controller from the IProx Irrigation range in the pumping station will make it possible to add from a simple start/stop option to an optimum pressure control at all times, making significant savings in energy consumption.

Q: Does an annual instalment have to be paid?
Yes. We annually invoice the remote management service of the pivots that have iControl Remote. The cost of this instalment does not vary with the type or brand of the pivots. This instalment includes: the use of the service, communication between the pivots and the cloud application and remote technical support on the functioning of iControl Remote.

Q: Is it compatible with lateral or hippodrome pivots?
Although it has not been designed with lateral/hippodrome pivots in mind, some of our clients are successfully using it in order to check the pivot’s position, remotely control its basic functions and receive alerts.
